Election of the municipal and state people's assemblies in Algeria:
• The Municipal People's Assembly and the State People's Assembly elect a 5-year term in the proportional vote by way of the list.
• Elections are held within the three (3) months preceding the expiration of the current term.

Election of the President of the Municipal People's Assembly:
He announces the head of the Municipal People's Assembly, the leader of the list that received the majority of votes.
In the event that the votes are equal, the heads of the younger candidate or candidate shall be announced.

Election of the President of the State People's Assembly:
The State People's Assembly shall elect its President from among its members for the electoral mandate.
Candidates to elect the Speaker of the State House of Representatives shall submit the absolute majority of the seats.
In the event that no list obtains an absolute majority of seats, the two lists holding thirty-five percent can at least 35% of the seats submit a candidate.
In the event that no list obtains thirty-five percent at least 35% of the seats, all lists may submit a candidate for it.
The election is secret. He shall be declared president of the nominating People's Assembly, which obtains the absolute majority of votes.
If no candidate obtains an absolute majority of votes, a second round shall take place among the candidates obtaining the first and second ranks, and the candidate who obtains the majority of votes shall be declared a winner.
If the votes obtained are equal, the oldest candidate will be declared the winner.
